Japan new National Stadium
A stadium for 80 000 seats is a very large and complex functional program. Its ability to generate positive sociocultural synergies also implies the generation of the difficulty on traffic and congestion in the ordinary life of the neighbouring districts.
A buried stadium under the ground level visually eliminates the large volume highlighting only the great lantern overhead. The underground position of the stadium stands allows to build a large horizontal platform which in our case will be a great “Plaza” of 75 thousand square meters. We reject those stadium in order to achieve special urban architectural effects greatly reduce the urban public space, and unjustly impose on the local domestic scale. The unique architecture visible in the urban landscape will be the big zenith lantern with the two large arches that support it. Structural arches “Diagrid” can be converted into two large screens for lighting and dissemination of messages and images.
