2007 - AuS Architecture and Urban Systems
New Hills Urban Project
The project interests a large area located in the south-east periphery of Kazan, next to Kaban lake, crossed by the main road which connect the airport with the city centre.
TOPOGRAPHY - The ground is divided into two areas on different levels and his conformation generates a longitudinal depression which characterizes the higher level and brings rainy water to the lake.
INFRASTRUCTURE - The project suggests a bypass tunnel which separates the main traffic “airport - centre” from the lower district traffic, taking advantage from the difference of levels. The diagonal adsorbs the quarter traffic and becomes a strong connection which generates density for a new tertiary centrality.
RESIDENCES - The program provides 20.000 dwellings, displaced in North- South direction, facing on East and West sides. The volumes are optimized for the maximum sun exposition while green areas complete the grid following topography conformation.
